FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 1904

W. M. West, who has lived near Adamsville for the past five or six years, died suddenly Sunday night, and messengers came here for a casket in which to bury him. Mr. West had been suffering for more than a year with enlarged glands, which extended to all the glands in the body, but the disease showed itself more plainly upon the face, and especially under the back part of the jaws, giving him the appearance of having the mumps. Mr. West got overheated some time during last summer and the glands in his body became congested as a result, and while he tried skilled physicians and much medicine, he never recovered. He seemed to suffer very little, if any, and only regarded his trouble as an inconvenience. This is supposed to have been the cause of his death, however, as otherwise he was a hale, stout, hearty and healthy man.
