On July 10, 1905, Samuel and his wife, Belle, bought a house south of the Russiaville railroad depot, and it became their principal residence for the rest of their lives. The property was described as "Commencing at a point 100 feet South of the center of the Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad on the line dividing Section Twenty-six (26), Township Twenty-three (23) North, Range Two (2) East, thence in a Southwesterly direction parallel with said railroad One hundred and fifty-nine (159) feet, thence South Ten (1) feet, thence East One hundred and fifty (150) feet, thence North One hundred and five (105) feet to the place of beginning."
