Wanda Lea Mathisen, 72, of Fort Lupton passed away on May 9, 2005 in Aurora, Colorado. She was born on September 11, 1932 in Fillmore, illinois to Marvin and Charlotte (Halford) Toberman. She graduated from Fillmore high School in 1950 and then from Nursing School in St. louis in 1953. She married James H. Mathisen on July 25, 1954 in Fillmore, Illinois. Wanda moved to California while her husband, James, was in the service and they came back to Coloarado in 1955. She worked for brighton Community hospital from 1960-1989, retiring from Platte Valley Medical Center in 1989. Wanda started as an RN and finished as an Operating Nurse. Her and her husband farmed southwest of Ft. Lupton for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading all types of books and enjoyed crocheting- making dolls and blankets for family and friends.
Wanda is survived by her children Mark (Pamela) Mathisen of Ft. Lupton, Denese ( Bruce) Brown of Paker and David Mathisen of Brighton; siblings Dorris (Elmer) Alexander of Fillmore, Ill. Muriel (Wally) gundlach of Newmark, NH and Charles ( Janet0 Toberman of Nakomis, Ill. She is also survived by dear friends Betty Berger and Marilyn Goldade, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Marvin and Charlotte Toberman, Husband James H. in February, 1997 and brother Francis Toberman.
A visition will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 16th and her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17th, both at Tabor Funeral Home, 75 S. 13th Avenue in Brighton, Colorado. interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton, Coloardo.
