----------------------------------------
"Fatal Accident"

"Walter, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Fields, who live on the Lampasas river, about eighteen miles above town, was the victim of a fatal accident on the 22nd inst. In company with an older brother, Walter was riding in a pasture, looking for a calf, and while galloping along the pony he was riding stumbled, and he either fell or was thrown off, striking on his head, producing concussion of the brain, and he died without recovering consciousness.

Mr. Fields was absent at the time of the accident, being in Fort Bend county, but was immediately telegraphed for, reaching home Friday night, but too late to see his precious boy, whom he had left but a few days before in the best of health, alive.

The funeral took place Saturday morning in the Straley graveyard.

The many friends of the sorrowing parents exend their warmest sympathy to them in the time of their sudden and terrible bereavement."
