Enlistment Date 6 Nov 1941
Discharge Date 24 Dec 1945
Collins was the oldest son of Neuville and Elodie Guidry. He was born in Louisiana and grew up mostly in Biloxi. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served until Dec 1945. While in training in Tennessee, he was returning from a weekend leave in Nashville with a truckload of fellow soldiers and the truck drove off of a railroad overpass killing 18 of his fellow soldiers. While injured, it was apparently not too bad and a month after, he married Mary Ellen Ching, the daughter of a local dairy farmer. Upon his return from the service, he spent the remainder of his career in the banking industry before dying suddenly at the tender age of 52. He left at least two sons.
