For 34 years, Bob devoted his life to Education in the Lowell Public School System. He began his teaching career as a Reading Teacher at the Shaughnessy School. He then became a Facilitator at the Moore Street School. He was appointed Principal of the Moody School and the Laura Lee School, a position he held for over twenty years. He retired from the Moody and the Laura Lee Schools in June of 2006.
He loved to travel and to be at the beach. He kept a summer home in York Beach, Maine, where he spent his time off from school. He was involved with local school and civic affairs in the city, as well as the Lowell Cultural Council. He was a devoted son to his mother Ruth, and a generous uncle to his six nieces and nephews. He was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving are his sister and brothers, Constance Parke and her husband Albert, William L. Keegan, and John P. Keegan and his wife Jo-Ann Tully Keegan; his nieces and nephews, Christopher Parke, Amanda Parke, and Andrew Parke, James Keegan and Kristina Keegan, and a grand niece, Teagan F. Parke; his uncle, Thomas Courtney,Sr.; and many cousins. Bob also leaves his dear friends, Mary Kirane, Lorraine Burgoyne, Roberta Keefe, and Martha Early. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Patricia A. "Pat" Keegan who died in January of this year.
