Mrs. Sarah Ann White, a lifelong resident of Devers, died in a Beaumont hospital Monday night of last week. Born in Chambers County, Mrs. White lived near Devers all her life.
She was an active worker in the Baptist church and in community affairs at Devers until her last illness. Funeral services were held at the Devers Baptist Church with her pastor, Rev. Langham, in charge. Rev. Dickey of Beaumont gave the sermon, with Rev. J. R. Breland of Beaumont and Rev. Thomas of Houston assisting.
Burial was in the Abshire Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Audrey Carroll of Beaumont; one son, Luther L. White of Devers, and three brothers, H. R. Abshire, J. B. Abshire and D. E. Abshire, all of Devers.
Pallbearers were her nephews: R. B. Abshire, Elra Abshire, George Abshire, Ernie Abshire, Arthur Turrichi and Jack Elkins.
