OBITUARY

Robert Marvin Henderson, son of William Henry and Martha Jane Henderson, was born near Avery. Missouri on September 20, 1881 and departed from this life at his home, 5016 East 7th Street, Kansas City, Missouri on February 23, 1950, at an age of 68 years, 5 months and 3 days. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age at Avery, Missouri, and united with the Breshears Valley Baptist church.

On March 22, 1900, he was united in marriage with Arvilla M. Breshears, daughter of Monroe and Leaned Breshears, of Avery, Missouri. To this union were born five daughters and one son, all of whom survive.

From 1915 to 1919 he carried the mail from Cross Timbers to Warsaw, residing in Cross Timbers. The following two years he lived in Warsaw. In the fall of 1920 he was employed by the Kansas City Public Service Company where he remained for 27 years, retiring in 1947. On January 1, 1948, he was appointed as School Patrolman by the Kansas City Police Department for the Thatcher School at Independence Avenue and Brighton and remained there until the time of his illness.

He was taken to Trinity Lutheran Hospital on October 19, 1949 for an operation. He returned home on December 15 and was bedfast until the time of his passing.

He has been a member of Hegel's Creek Lodge No. 279 AF&AM at Wheatland, Missouri for about forty years.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Arvilla Henderson, of the home. In Kansas City, Missouri: six children, Misses Retta, Faye and Gladys Henderson of the home, Mrs. Verna Eads, of Independence, Missouri. Mrs. Bessie Salazar, Los Angeles, ad Guy Henderson of Kansas City; two grandsons, Robert M Henderson of Kansas City and Stephen Gary Sligar of Los Angeles; one brother, George W. Henderson of Wheatland, Missouri, and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Earp & Sons Chapel in Kansas City on February 25, 1950, at 3:00 PM. The service was conducted by Rev. J. L. Wright, of Wheatland, Missouri, and Dr. D. M. Nelson of the Calvary Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri. The soloist, Mr. Fred Zimmerman, of the Temple Baptist church, Kansas City, Missouri sang "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."

The body was laid to rest in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.
