Daniel Bartlett died in his home on December 24, 2009" of natural causes. Dan was born in Idaho to Vester and Louise Bartlett and spent his life here. Growing up in Boise, he attended East Jr. High as well as Boise High where he was a standout athlete in both wrestling and football. After graduation he joined the Army and was eventually stationed in Augsburg, Germany where he started his family. After leaving the Army Dan and his family moved back to Boise where he attended Boise State for a while before settling in at the family business. The remainder of his life he poured his energy into the business and made many friends there. The relationships he forged there were typified by a line from his beloved Beatles: "If there's anything that you want, if there's anything I could do, just call on me ... ". His heart was large and he took pride in helping wherever he could. Many lessons in life were imparted from Dan to his son in the time they had together. Whether it was on the basketball court, Boise vs. Borah football games, or in the many hours spent talking on drives in the old Ford Explorer. During these hours spent together Dan taught Aaron about life, love of country, thinking before acting, standing up for one's self and how to be a man. When Dan became a grandfather he showed that beneath his rough exterior there was a man who loved and was capable of loving. For the time he knew his grandchildren he demonstrated this capability. "Alo" and "Studly" will miss the opportunity to know their grandfather more than they did but will retain the fond memories that were created. In parting, I would like to say I am proud of who my dad was, how he helped make me who I am today and the positive influence he had on so many people. I will miss him greatly! Services will be held at the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery on January 7th at 3:00 PM. In remembrance of his life please make donations to either the American Legion or Veterans Administration.
