OBITUARY
Charles H. Barber, 81, prominent retired farmer of Cedar Grove, died Tuesday at Montgomery County General Hospital, Olney. He was the husband of the late Nora Watkins Barber, was born and lived his entire life in the Cedar Grove area.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Julia Mae Purdum and Mrs. Anna Linthicum, both of Cedar Grove; two sons, Charles Frederick Barber of Washington and Lester E. Barber, Damascus. Also surviving is a brother Hezekiah Barber, Washington.
Friends may call at the Roy W. Barber funeral home in Laytonsville. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Salem Methodist Church, Cedar Grove where Mr. Barber had long been a member. Rev. Charles A. Shook, pastor will conduct the services and interment will be in the church cemetery. No viewing in the church.

SIX HORSES DIE WHEN BARN BURNS
Cow and Calves Also Lost in $7,000 Fire Near Rockville, Md.
Rockville, Md., Dec. 5, A fine new barn on the farm of Charles H. Barber near Cedar Grove, this county, was destroyed by fire late last night, together with six horses, four calves, a cow, agricultural implements, straw, hay and grain. The loss is placed at about $7,000, party covered by insurance. When discovered, the fire had gained such headway it was possible to save anything.
