She was married to Prentice Vallandingham on October 16, 1906, in Des Moines, Ia. To this union three children were born, Lucille, Dorothy and Lloyd. Mr. Vallandingham passed away on September 1, 1924.
On September 18, 1926 Edith Clara was united in marriage to Ira G. Hibbs. They moved to Lancaster, Mo., area in 1931, where they owned and operated their own farm until 1958. At that time, they moved into Lancaster because of Mr. Hibbs health. He passed away on July 18, 1966. For the past two years, Mrs. Hibbs has made her home with Mrms Russell Reed in Lancaster, Mo.
Mrs. Hibbs was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church, where she was very active as long as her health permitted. She had received her life-time pin in the Women’s Society for Christian Service. This pin is presented by the W. S. C. S. in recognition for services rendered by the recipient.
Mrs. Hibbs was a member of the Meridian Rebekah Lodge and was a past Noble Grand of that organization. She was a Past Oracle of the Royal Neighbors of America and was a fifty year member and a past 40 year member of the O. E. S. She was also active in the Sunshine Extension Club.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Hibbs was preceded in death by one brother, Russell and one great grandson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Calhoun of Ottumwa, Ia. and Mrs. Bernard (Lucille) Hibbs of Minneapolis, Minn; one son, Lloyd Vallandingham of Des Moines, Ia.; one step son, Bernard Hibbs, of Minneapolis, Minn. and one step daughter, Mrs. Opal Mapes of Lodi, Calif, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Huck and Mrs. Ora Warren of Seal Beach, Calif; one brother Leonard Albrecht of Long Beach, Calif., several nieces and nephews and many, many friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 14, 1969, at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Mo. with Reverend Ronald Schultz officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Edith Ballew and Mrs. Norma Lamb, duet. Mrs. Paul Elschlager, organist.
Selections were "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Walter Beeler, Oris Brown, Paul Welsh, Joe Kent, Russell Reed and Paul Elschlager.
Interment was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery.
