Judd, citing Kenneth Vance Graves, "Rear Admiral Thomas Graves: 1637 Settler of Charlestown, Massachusetts and His Descendants," Wrentham, MA by the author, 1994, 21, has Samuel and Mary married in Chelmsford.

27 Jan 1699/1700 a Samuel Webb mentioned in Braintree town meeting records with respect to lands "Purchased of Boston Gentlemen." However, our Samuel was likely in Dorchester then.

From about 1696 to 1705, Samuel's children are baptized in the Milton Church, though also listed in the Dorchester VR. Milton was part of Dorchester unil 1662, so perhaps Dorchester continued to maintain the town's birth records for some years after the town was established. Or perhaps Samuel lived in Dorchester and travelled to Milton for church.

Admitted as inhabitant of Windham on 14 March 1709. Judd, citing Kenneth Vance Graves, "Rear Admiral Thomas Graves: 1637 Settler of Charlestown, Massachusetts and His Descendants," Wrentham, MA by the author, 1994

"In 1709 he was chosen one of the ‘Listers' or Assessors, and was also one of the School Committee. In 1713, he was appointed ‘Innkeeper.' He was evidentally a man of substance for those days, and there is every indication that he was esteemed and respected. The mark of respect, ‘Mr,' is prefixed to his name. In his inventory he is styled ‘gent.'"

Listed as Communicant in Windham Church Records 1726 [NEHGS web site].

Will dated 17 January 1731, proved 6 March 1739. "Moved with their children from Braintree to Dorchester, thence to Milton, and, in 1707, to Windham, Conn." In 1707, Windham had been settled for about 18 years. On 29 January 1707, Samuel purchased a home lot, probably 300 to 400 acres. Judd, citing De Witt C. Inventory £172.9.3, mostly personal property. Real estate divided among his children.

Windham Cemetery tombstone: "In memory of Mr. Samuel Webb the Late Loveing and Well-beloved consort of Mrs. Mary Webb. He Departed this Life February the 20th A.D. 1738-9 in the 79th year of his age."

Milton Church Records also list a Thomas, Ebenezar, and Benjamin, children of Mary and Samuel Webb, but possibly another one, since published accounts such as that by Adams do not list these children.

On 16 Dec 1686 when Samuel was 26, he married Mary Adams, daughter of Samuel Adams & Rebecca Graves, in Braintree, MA.Chelmsford, per Judd. Born on 8 Sep 1664 in Chelmsford, MA.Judd, citing Kenneth Vance Graves, "Rear Admiral Thomas Graves: 1637 Settler of Charlestown, Massachusetts and His Descendants," Wrentham, MA by the author, 1994. Mary died in Windham, CT, on 21 Dec 1744; she was 80.

Could another possibility be that Mary is daughter of Joseph Adams of Braintree and Abigail Baxter? According to "Pedigree of the Adams Family," by William Downing Bruce in NEHGS Register Jan 1853, Joseph's and Abigail's 7th child was Mary, b. 1667, m. 1st Samuel Webb, 2nd Samuel Bass. This was the family that later produced John and Samuel Adams. [Although this birthdate would not agree with the age on the tombstone.]
