Edith C. Akey, 91, died at 6:20am on January 24, 1986, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana. She had been residing at Meadowhaven Nursing Center. She was born in Leo, Indiana on April 15, 1894 to Jacob Lochner and Nancy Annette (Comesky) Lochner Erickson Lochner. She married Leavitt Lucas Akey on April 3, 1912 in Leo, Indiana. He passed away on July 26, 1961.
Surviving are 5 sons, Wayne L. Akey of Fort Wayne, IN, Walter J. Akey of Fort Wayne, IN, Wilber L. "Pete" Akey of St. Joe, IN, Kenny Akey of Hamilton, IN, and Glen A. Akey of Spencerville, IN; 2 daughters, Virginia Churchward of Fort Wayne, IN, and Ilo M. Cadorette of Fort Wayne, IN; 24 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great grandchild and 1 brother, Ralph Lochner of Fort Wayne, IN.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Calling hours were held on Sunday (January 26, 1986) at Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville, IN. Funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on Monday (January 27, 1986) at the Spencerville United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Jenson officiating. Burial was at Leo Cemetery, Leo, Indiana.
