Born in Mendota, Minnesota, Corbett was ordained on June 12, 1886 for what is now the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. On April 9, 1910, Pope Pius X appointed Corbett Bishop of Crookston and he was ordained bishop on May 19, 1910; he retired on June 25, 1938.
