Barbara Abbate died October 24, 2000, in her sleep. She was 94 years young. She was born in 1906, one of 9 children, to Ben and Anne Rasmusson in Marysvale, Utah. She relocated to Fresno in the 1930's, with her mother and young son, Halbert. She met, fell in love with and married Tony Abbate.
Barbara and Tony adored the arts and contributed greatly to the Fresno art community.
She is survived by her 5 grandchildren, Andrea Abbate, Hal Abbate, Jim Abbate, Alyse Knight, and Laurence Abbate, and her 6 great-grandchildren, Austin Walker, Aricka Abbate, Hal Abbate Jr, Jackson Walker, Hunter Knight, and Alexander Abbate.
