Virgil John Sharp, son of John Silas Sharp and Verna Josephine Smart Sharp.

Born October 21, 1922 in Murray, Utah, he passed away at home on August 4, 2003.

His love for his family is a living legacy that is reflected in the lives of his children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, with three additional on the way.

His kind and gentle ways will always be remembered.

He is loved and will never be forgotten.

He married his beautiful companion, wife and mother, Betty M. Starley Sharp on Dec. 9, 1944 in Carlsbad, N.M.

Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 9, 1978.

He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.

Virgil owned and operated Sharp Foods with his brother Richard from 1946 until 1968.

He retired from Southland Corp. in 1984.

He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Carolyn (James) Wagstaff; sons Thomas (Deborah) Sharp, Vaughn (Marla) Sharp and a sister Delores Shama.

Preceded in death by baby daughter Loreen, brothers Harold, Ariel, Abiel and Richard; sisters Adeal Gatherum, Lucille Gust, and baby sister Elaine.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, 12 noon at the Midvale East 4th Ward, 87 E. 7100 So., where friends may call 11-11:45 a.m.

Interment Murray City Cemetery.
