John L. Arter Sr., 49, Miltenburg Road, Orrtanna formerly of Littlestown, died Sunday evening at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born in Adams County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Margie Bowers Arter. He was the husband of Dollie Blacsten Arter of Orrtanna.
He was employed at the Brock-Acco Corp York. He attended Littlestown High School. He was a member of the Heritage Assembly of God in Gettysburg and the Buchamam Valley Fire Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, John L Arter Jr., and James Arter both of Buchanan Valley, Norman E. Arter of Hanover, one daughter Helen M. Arter of Hanover and five grandchildren.
Services will be held wednesday at 10 a.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Littlestown with Rev. Jeffery Wilson officiating, Interment will be Shenberger's Chapel Cemetery, located near Red Lion.
