Wm. Phillips, a highly respected citizen, who was born and lived north of Downing, Mo., most of his life, passed away at his home near Hitt, Mo., Saturday, May 6, 1939. He confessed his faith in the Savior some 24 years ago at the Pleasant Grove Baptist church and was ever faithful to his Savior.
He was born near Vinita and lived near there most all of his life and was respected by his neighbors and friends. He was 74 years and a few months old at the time of his death
He leaves his companion, one son, two daughters and one step daughter and several grand children to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Pleasant Grove Baptist church by Rev. W. T. Andrews and the body entered in the cemetery by the church.
The bereft ones have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
Some beautiful songs were rendered by a quartet from the Downing Baptist church.
