Eugene, age 82, died on Thursday, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born the son Ralph & Sidona (Suntken) Barber. Eugene was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Alexander on Oct. 2, 1949, in Illinois. The couple moved to Wisconsin in February 1959 and began farming. Eugene was also employed in construction for many years. He was a member of Kuoni-Reuter American Legion Post 167 and Denzer United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five children, Diana (John) Hutter, Donna (Steve) DeMars, Louis Barber, Marsha (Rodney) Key, and Stanley (Barbara) Barber; 11 grandchildren nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette Barber; and other relatives and friends In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Barber; a sister, Vera; and a brother, Don (Arlene) Barber. Funeral services were held at Denzer United Methodist Church, Denzer, on Tuesday, with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Denzer United Methodist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
