Oscar Reynold Entz, 89, died Friday (Jan. 8, 2010) at Kidron Bethel healthcare in North Newton. He was born May 12, 1920, in Newton to W.H. and Magdalene (Regier) Entz. On July 29, 1960, he married Helen M. Ensz in Newton. She survives of home. Oscar was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. He was raised in Elbing and attended Zion Mennonite Church as he grew up. He graduated from Hesston Academy and attended Bethel College. Oscar was a farmer and stockman. He greatly enjoyed working on his farm and caring for the livestock. He loved to be outside and watch the beauty of the pastures in the Flint Hills. Oscar also was a lifelong bird lover and enjoyed their songs and beauty. Family was very important to Oscar, and he looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his wife; son, Alan and Joan Entz of Newton; daughters, Mary and Joel Kulp of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ruth and Eric Buller of Inman; grandchildren, Luke, Hannah and Rachel Kulp of Fort Worth, Peter and Josiah Buller of Inman, and Ethan, Schyler and Camryn Entz of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Albert Entz. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with Pastor Gordon Scoville officiating. Memorials may be made to Mennonite Mission Network or First Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
