A FATAL ACCIDENT
Luther Crowe Killed While Riding the Rear of an Auto
Friday night about 11 o'clock when returning from a charivari party at Harvey Hulver's, Luther Crowe, 17 years of age, was killed almost instantly, and Jewell Baldwin, 18 years old, was badly crushed and bruised.
The boys were riding on the rear of a car driven by Miss Allie Boogher, and unknown to her, and very possibly had the tail light obscured. At any rate, Edgar Goodloe, driving a Ford runabout, crashed into them with fatal results. The accident happened near the South mine.
Mr. Crowe is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Crowe, living at the Summit mine.
The inquest over the deceased was held Monday, and the jury found that the young man came to his death from internal injuries received in an automobile accident caused by collision, and recommended that the driver of the car, Edgar Goodloe, be held for criminal carelessness and driving while in an intoxicated condition.
The jury was composed of E.B. Vaughan, chairman; Ira E. Keller, J.F. Shull, Tilton Davis, J.P. Tribble, Jas. F. Winn.
