Chestnut Rites Today
Former Horry County Sheriff Was Found Shot to Death.
Conway March 9 Special Funeral services for the late John O. Chestnut former sheriff of Horry County who was found dead in his bedroom just before supper hour Wednesday with a pistol shot in his right hear, will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The rites will be held at the grave with interment following in Lakeside Cemetery at Conway.
A further search of the room and garage where he had been just before entering his home and firing the fatal shot, failed to discharge any note or letter to any one and it is believed the former sheriff did not leave any. Besides serving one term as sheriff of the county before retiring in January he had also served as chief of police of Conway.
