It all started when a friend of ours gave us about forty pigeons. They are sure beautiful birds.

Chiefie and her brother were little fuzzy yellow baby pigeons. They were hatched in October, their Daddy was setting on them to keep them warm. A raccoon got in their pen and got their Daddy, their Mother abandon the babies.

My husband, kept telling me that baby pigeons that small are hard to raise. Well, Chiefie's little brother expired.

Little Chiefie hung in there. I babied her, I put her under my desk lamp to keep her warm, until my Brother David gave her his heating pad.

I would pinch up light bread soaked in water to feed her when she was small. The last bite would have a drop of mineral oil on it.

Chiefie, when she was growing up, she took up with a small stuffed tiger. That tiger was hers, and you did not touch it. She would sleep on it.

Chiefie, was something else, she did not have any babies of her own, she would raise abandon baby pigeons.

One day my husband took Chiefie out side to be with the rest of the pigeons, they took off flying and Chiefie went with them. That night the pigeons came home to sleep, all but Chiefie.

She spent the night out some where. A friend of ours said she will come back home, if something don't get her. Every time I went outside I would looked up to the sky. One afternoon I went out side and looked up and there was one little pigeon flying, it was Chiefie.

I got her tiger, she didn't want it. She came down for a piece of bread, she was hungry. God kept her safe, and bought her back home.

Little Chiefie, was fifteen years old. She expired when our temperature drop to four or five degrees above zero at night.

{I have her and her mate Solider buried in my flower bed.}

The birds upon the tree tops sing their song, The angels chant the chorus all day long, The flowers in the garden blend their hue, So why shouldn't I, why shouldn't you Praise him, too.
