OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Nov 1 1938 “Mrs Frangquist Dies Yesterday: Burns Addition Resident Was Active Member of Lutheran Church”
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at the First Lutheran church for Mrs. Herbert Frangquist, 54, who died yesterday morning at 12:30 a.m. at her home in the Burns addition following a lingering illness.
The services will be conducted from the home at 1204 Second avenue at 1:30 o’clock Thursday, and at 2 o’clock from the church with the Rev. Carl I. Fant officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven cemetery.
Mrs. Frangquist was born April 25, 1884 in Sweden and came to this country three years later with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Soderquist, who settled in Bates township.
She was married on Nov. 24, 1908 to Mr. Frangquist and would have observed her 30th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving day this month.
SERVED LUTHERAN AID When a girl, she was confirmed at the First Lutheran church and throughout her life remained an active member of the congregation.
For many years she served as president of the Ladies’ Aid society of the church. A meeting of the Aid which was to have been held this week has been postponed until Thursday afternoon, Nov. 10, in respect to her memory.
Surviving her are her husband, three daughters, Ardis, Beatrice and Lindis, one son Gustav, her mother, one brother Emil Soderquist, and three sisters, Mrs. Hjalmer Melstrom of Iron River, Mrs. Jesse Waite of Rogers, and Mrs. Victor Larson of Iron Mountain. Her father died last December at the age of 86.
Mrs. Frangquist was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.
