"JESSE C. REITZ. - Jesse Conrad Reitz, the youngest son of Conrad Z. and Elizabeth Reitz, was born in Boone county, Iowa, November 2, 1879, and died October 11, 1923, at the age of forty-three years, eleven months and nine days. At the age of eleven he came to Maxwell with his parents and has resided here practically all his live, with the exception of the last few years, when he resided in Des Moines. He united with the Brethren church at the age of fifteen years. He was married in 1903 to Judea Manz and to this union four children, Margaret, Lee, Mildred and Fay, were born. Margaret preceded her father to the beyond in 1917. Those left to mourn his departure, besides his aged father and mother, are his sisters, Mrs. P. J. Sutter and Mrs. W. C. Enfield, of Maxwell; Mrs. G. E. Goughnour, of Ankeny; Mrs. C. E. Lookingbill, of Nevada; Mrs. T. H. Hull, of Seattle, Wash., and his brother, E. C. Reitz, of Missoula, Mont., and his three children, Lee, Mildred and Fay, of Maxwell. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at the home of his parents, conducted by Rev. Robert Sink, of Ankeny, and music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. M. E. Smith, Mrs. C. E. Cooper, Martin H. Troup and G. W. Olinger. With his six nephews, Fred Sutter, Galen Enfield, R. E. Goughnour, R. B. Enfield, Ralph Sutter and Morris Enfield, acting as pall bearers, he was laid to rest beside his daughter, Margaret, in the Maxwell cemetery."
