Mrs. Hugh Hall, a highly esteemed resident of this city for over fifty years passed away at her home last monday morning, June 19th, 1933, after an illness of three weeks. She was born at Champlain, New York, July 13th, 1850, a daughter of Edward and Mary J. (Long) Fairbanks, and came west with her parents when only nine months old, the family location on a farm in the Town of Hampden where she grew to womanhood. On September 21st, 1875, she was united in marriage to Mr. Hugh Hall. After seven years on the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Hall moved to Columbus where with the exception of two years at Portage when Mr. Hall was sheriff, she has since resided. Mrs. Hall was a charter member of the W. R. C. and for years an active worker in the Methodist church. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew her. Deceased leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Selk of El Paso, Illinois, and Mrs. Earl Rueter of Fall River, and three grandchildren, Mary Ellen Selk, Hugh Earl Rueter and Robert Rueter. Mr. Hall died January 26th, 1931, and a daughter, Miss Mabel, passed away July 25th, 1931. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Ernest Kistler officiating and interment was at Hillside cemetery.
