Ray W. Chaney, 76, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Warren Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. F. Lee McDermott. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Waterlick.

Mr. Chaney was born March 15, 1933, son of the late John D. and Blanche Chaney. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a mechanic for Prince William County Public Schools. He was a member of Buckton Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife Anna Chaney; a daughter Brenda Shifflett; a son Ray Daniel Chaney and his wife Anita; four grandchildren Ronnie and his wife Trish, Tammy, Julia, and Danielle; a great-grandson Kyle; four brothers Johnny Chaney and his wife Betty, Howard Chaney and his wife Marie, Ray Chaney and his wife Sue, and Roger Chaney and his wife Penny; and four sisters Gladys Mitchell, Dorothy Elsentrout and her husband Max, Nancy Moon and her husband Earl, and Carol Lee.
