Mrs. Lena Millsaps Mason, 86, route 2, Statesville, died at 3:20 a.m. today at Davis Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
She was born in Alexander County on September 17, 1875, a daughter of the late Franklin and Amanda White Millsaps. She is the widow of R.H. Mason, Sr. He died on January 7, 1952.
She is survived by seven sons: McKinley and M. Hunter Mason, both of Statesville; Watt J. Mason, route 4, Statesville; R.H. Mason, Jr., route 2, Hiddenite; and George Wilford and David Mason, all of route 2, Statesville; three sisters, Mrs. Homer Menscer of Kannapolis; Mrs. John Wilson and Mrs. Ethel Shaver, both of route 2, Statesville; 44 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mason was a member of Mountain View Methodist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Mason will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Methodist Church by Rev. Donald Haynes, Rev. D.T. Huss, and Rev. W.A. Claywell, Jr., Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be removed from Bunch Funeral Home to the residence at 4:30 p.m. today where it will remain until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Donald, G.F., Delmer, Johnny, Dennis and Bill Mason, all grandsons.
