Died, at his home in Turner, Illinois, Thursday night, Sept. 27th, 1894, of Bright's disease, Thos. Evenden, aged 67 years.

The deceased was born in Smarden, Kent county, England, December 16 [sic, recte 6], 1826. He came to this country June 1, 1850. On the 9th of October, 1821 [sic, recte 1851], he married Lucy Avard at Utica, N.Y., and came to Turner June 13, 1856. He leaves a widow and two daughters to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. One daughter is Mrs. E. J. Manville, of Oak Park, Ill., the other, Mrs. Wm. R. Cole, of Park Avenue, Chicago. An older daughter Crissie died in 1870. Mr. Evenden had, with the exception of one year spent in Bartlett, resided in Turner continuously since 1856.

He has been in failing health for a long time but during July his health became so poor that he was obliged to give up work. He rallied for a short time, but from August 25, to the time of his death suffered intensely but remained in full possesion of his mental powers until the end. Mr. Evenden's life in Turner has been a long and well spent one where his welcome presence will be missed in his home and church.

The funeral took place at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon at 5 oclock, Rev. H. H. Reed officiating, and the remains were interred in Oakwood cemetery.
