Sherman Oscar Douglas, 86, of Alum Springs Road, Junction City died August 29, 2006. Burial will be in the Parksville Cemetery, with military rites by the Marion County Veterans Color Guard. Born Feb. 6, 1920, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Simon and Mary Frances York Douglas. He was a member of the Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church, self-employed farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the husband of Dessil Taylor Douglas and the widower of Emma Pevley Douglas. Survivors include five daughters, Mary and Freda Fields, both of Garrard County, Ruby Sparks of Danville, Pat Conder of Gravel Switch and Wanda Cook of Indiana; five sons, Wendell Douglas of Junction City, and George, Ronald, Randy and Chris Douglas, all of Gravel Switch; three stepdaughters, Janice Knight of Danville and Joyce McCowan and Judy Hicks, both of Junction City; one stepson Danny Kidd of Junction City; one sister, Flonnie Godbey of Florida; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Douglas. Active pallbearers will be Wendell, George, Ronald, Randy and Chris Douglas and Danny Kidd.

Honorary pallbearers are Mary and Freda Fields, Ruby Sparks, Pat Conder, Wanda Cook, Janice Knight, Judy Hicks, Bea Staton and Joyce McCowan.
