Mrs. Hannah A. Alcorn, widow of the late Hon. G. Milton Alcorn and one of this city's early residents, passed away at her home, 129 East Scribner avenue, Friday, February 9th at 1:50 p.m., after an illness of ten days. Death was attributed to uremic poisoning.
The deceased was born in Smicksburg, Pa., March 25, 1861, a daughter of David L. and Lydia McBrier.
Uniting with the First Baptist church in early girlhood, Mrs. Alcorn, remained loyal to her faith and lived a noble christian life. She was also a member of the DuBois chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a woman of keen intelligence and held in high regard by a wide circle of friends who will learn of her death with sincere regret.
Surviving her are one daughter, Miss Jessie I. Alcorn, at home; one grand-daughter, Mrs. Allan Shaver, of Tidioute, Pa., a grandson, Frederick B. Alcorn, of Greenville and a great grandson, Frederick Allan Shaver. Three sisters: Miss Eva McBrier, of Grove City; Mrs. J. L. Alcorn, of Tarentum and Mrs. M. E. Shaffer, of DuBois, also survive. Two sons, Merle and Blaine, preceded their mother in death.
Funeral services are to be held at the residence Monday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Thomas Lowther officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Rumbarger cemetery.
