James was 72

he died in Avondale Auckland

he is buried with his wife Lydia here in Hamilton West
he is buried next to a possible brother
- William Loveday 1844 - 1913 aged 89

2 of his children are buried in Old Gorge Cemetery in Woodville:
- 2 year old Elizabeth May in 1887
- 12 year old John in 1890

- James's tender for fencing was accepted by the Waipawa County Council in October 1880 - 40 chains @ 10s per chain
- James was declared bankrupt in May 1889, it was released in August 1890

... James & Lydia arrived in Hawkes Bay as assisted immigrants aboard the SCHIEHALLION on 26th May 1874, having left London on the 10th February 1874, with 7 children (their 9 month old infant Daniel died a month into the voyage)
Also on board was Lydia's mother 49 year old Mary, Lydia's brothers Daniel, Edward and Elijah and sister Elizabeth (all single) and her brother Frederick, his wife Harriet and their 3 children, 6 year old Elijah, 4 year old Willie, 2 year old Harriet and a baby daughter born 27th March 1874

- They all settled in Woodville as part of the original Woodville Farm Settlement.

James & Lydia had 15 children:

... this information is incorrect - a Grace loveday did marry george styles but he parents were Joseph and Elizabeth. Grace (19.6.1876 - 27.9.1953) daughter of James and Lydia married George Cross 9.7.1906 and accroding to Grace death record they had no chilren
