John Warfield, placed as the eldest son of Capt. Richard Warfield and his wife, was born in Middle Neck Hundred. On February 16, 1696/7, according to the register of All Hallow's Parish, he married Ruth Gaither, daughter of John Gaither, founder of the Gaithers of Maryland. Their children: Azel Warfield (born 1696), Richard Warfield (born 1697), Ruth Warfield Davis (born 1697), John Warfield (born 1700), Benjamin Warfield (born ca 1702-10), Alexander Warfield (born 1704), Elinor Warfield (born ca 1705-18), Mary Warfield Marriott (born 1709), Edward Warfield (born 1710), and Philip Warfield (born ca 1710-16). He established his seat on "Warfield's Plaines" which had been inherited from his father, located near the Baldwin Memorial Church and which is now in the vicinity of Millersville in the-then western extremities of St Anne's Parish.
