Benjamin Henry "Ole Honest Ben" Gilbert was born on 3 September 1790 in Russell County, Virginia, to Samuel Gilbert III and Mary Hunt. He married Levisa Hunt, around 1815, in Lee County, Virginia. Their children were William, Priscilla, John, Jessie, Elizabeth, Samuel, Jane, Rebecca, and Martha Gilbert. Benjamin Gilbert died, 8 October 1871, aged 81, in Woodway, Virginia, and was buried at Tritt-Gilbert Cemetery in Woodway, Virginia.∼Grave marker location: Row 2 North to South.
