Hazel Arvilla (Kelsey) Aldridge, 92, formerly of Downing, MO, passed away at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, MO, on July 6, 2005.

The daughter of Ira and Beatrice (Walker) Kelsey, she was born on May 1, 1913, in Hutchinson, KS.

On December 10, 1938, at the Downing Christian Church, she was united in marriage by Pastor Kenneth Campbell to Elmer Aldridge. They had the good fortune of being able to celebrate 55 years of marriage.

Survivors include her step-children, Letha Cassiday of Downing, MO, Dean Aldridge of Fort Madison, IA, and Joe Aldridge and wife, Julie of Tama, IA; 21 step-grandchildren, Judy, Ronnie, Herbert Gene, Brett, Brent, Kammie, Kimmie, Walter Lee, Elmer Ray, Tammy Jo, Harold, Shirley, Ernest, Becky, Bernard, Julie, Rick, Laura, Fravel Lee, Terri and Stacey Jo; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Burkhart of Leonard, MO; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer on January 26, 1994; one step-daughter, Elaine McElroy; one step-son, Herbert Aldridge; one step-grandson, Herbert Ray Aldridge; three sisters, Mable, Peggy and Wilma; and two brothers, John Kelsey and Merl Kelsey.

Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge farmed and raised livestock in the Downing area.

Graveside services were held July 9, 2005, at the Coffey Cemetery south of Downing, MO with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Memorials have been established for the Coffey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, MO.
