Allen Carraway, age 57, of Franklin, died on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 4 at the Madisonville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerald Brown officiating. Burial followed at the Bedias Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Ehmling, Andy Clark, Gary Hansen, Scooter Holguin, Scott Dunham and Larry Carraway.
Mr. Carraway was born on Sept. 5, 1952, in Houston, to William Harold Sr. and Lois Marie (Ehmling) Carraway. He lived in Franklin for 12 years, having come from Bremond; and before that he lived in Bedias for many years. Mr. Carraway was raised Baptist and attended the Methodist Church in Franklin.
He was a machinist having learned his trade while on the job. He worked for C&M Machine, Inc. in Navasota but had to retire because of health problems. Before that, he had worked with several other companies. Mr. Carraway lived on a ranch near Franklin where he raised registered longhorn cattle. He loved fishing and being with his family and friends.
Mr. Carraway was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by a son, Jason Carraway, and wife Karen of Cypress; brother William Harold "Bill" Carraway Jr. of Webster; nephew and niece, Matt and Cathy Carraway of Webster; two aunts, Thelma Akers of Iola and Betty Carraway of Tomball; numerous cousins and numerous close friends.
