Mrs. Elisha F. Shawen passed away Saturday, September 17, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.W. Hoatson, Carleton, Nebraska.

Clara Bertha Silker, daughter of John and Louisa Silker, was born in Barrington, Illinois, coming to Chester with her parents when a young girl. On February 2, 1898 she was married to Elisha F. Shawen of Chester. They resided near Chester a number of years, then on a farm near Carleton, Nebraska.

She is survived by her husband, seven daughters, several grandchildren, great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Silker; one sister, Miss Cora Silker and many other relatives. Four children, her parents and one sister preceeded her in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday p.m. in the Congregational church (sic) in Belvidere with burial in the Chester Cemetery.

Relatives attending services from Chester were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Silker, Miss Cora Silker and nephews and nieces, Mr. and Mrs. George Rieke, Mrs. Ralph Barnes, Mr. Ervin Rieke, all of chester and Mrs. R.C. Utterback of Arlington, Nebraska.
