Recil DeHay Warner, age 96, a former resident of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday evening, January 12, 2006 in Corpus Christi. Recil was born in Waxahachie on September 25, 1909 to Frank and Myrtle (Cates) DeHay. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was past president of the Ellis County Art Museum, where she had been very active when she lived in Waxahachie. She was a former director of senior centers in Florida and Arizona where she taught art, was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of AARP. Recil loved art, music and dancing. In 2005 she was the 1st runner-up in the Miss Coastal Bend Pageant. Survivors include one son, Robert Marlin Warner of Pensacola, FL; one daughter, Janis Farmer and husband Tom of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Lisha Resser and husband Matt of Plano,TX and Dylan Warner; great grandchildren, Jay and Drew Resser; brother, Frank DeHay Jr. of Corpus Christi and one nephew, Tom Graffius. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warner on July 4, 1993. Funeral services were 2 p.m.Tue, Jan 17, 2006 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Bronson officiating. Interment followed at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
