Word has been received of the death of Gwendolyn Stephenson Powell, 71, of Perry, Mich., formerly of Waynesburg, who died August 1, 1988, after a long illness.
Born July 3, 1917, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of Cook and Mary Scott Stephenson.
In 1937 she married Willis C. Cowell, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters; Glenda Polhemus, Sonya DePew and Byllye Wilson, all of Perry, Mich.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth R. Stephenson of Waynesburg; four sisters, Mrs. Forney (Lucille) Phillips and Mrs. James (Mildred) Maizwe, both of Waynesburg; Mrs. George (Jean) Spray of Girard, Ohio and Mrs. James (Sara) Varner of Mecca, Ohio.
