Jacob Amos Richardson was born to his earthly parents, Elic Homer Richardson and Effie Luella Parrish Richardson, on July 14, 1918.

He was called to his heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 20 days.

He was married to Virgie Mae Van Nada on Nov. 8, 1941, at Corning. To this union were born two children, Jacob Virgil Richardson and Dianna June Richardson Keel.

He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Corning, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher as long as his health permitted. He provided well for his family's physical needs by farming and carpentering.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virgie Mae of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Mary Lou Richardson, and daughter and son-in-law, June and James Keel, all of Corning. Also, surviving are grandchildren, Sarah Ann Richardson of Alexander, Dianna Lynn Richardson of Spartanburg, S.C., and Laura Leigh Shipman and husband Bobby of Jonesboro.

Great-grandchildren are Rhonda Lynn McKinley and husband Josh of Paragould, Jacob Samuel Simpson of Corning, Bobby Lee, Anna Katherine and William Brady Shipman of Jonesboro; great-great grandson is Caleb Joshua McKinley. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Richardson; and two sisters, Bertha Jackson and Hulda Hudson Dekoster.

Funeral services were at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning with the Revs. Mike Chadwick and Doug Burch officiating. Burial was in Corning Cemetery.
