MOTT — Sebastian T. "Seb" Roll, 73, Mott, passed away at Medcenter One, Bismarck, on Jan. 1, 2010, with his family at his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott, with the Rev. Charles Zins and Deacon Ervin Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the Taylor-Skartvedt American Legion Post No. 71 of Mott.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. MST Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, all at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. A rosary/wake service will be held at 7 p.m. MST Tuesday at the church.

Sebastian T. Roll was born March 21, 1936, to Mike and Rosa (Reichert) Roll, at the farm north of Burt. Seb went to country school for six years and then to St. Vincent for grade school and Mott Lincoln High School, graduating in 1956.

Seb joined the National Guard in April 1955 and served for eight years while going to Fort Riley, Kan., for active duty.

On Nov. 5, 1956, he married Norita Lutz, the love of his life. In 1958, they moved to the farm and had four children, Michael, Brent, Glenn and Shelly.

Some of his accomplishments were Township Assessor, Hettinger County Commissioner and Elgin Hospital Board. He helped build and remodel many houses, did electrician work, plumbing and anything else someone needed help with. He was very instrumental in the remodel of the St. Vincent Catholic Church.

One of Seb's proudest accomplishments, other than his family, was in the American Legion. During his years in the Legion, he was Post Commander, District Commander, Western Region Commander, State Commander and National Vice Commander. He was a paid lifetime member of Post No. 71, Mott.

Grateful for having shared in Seb's life are his wife, Norita, Mott; his sons, Brent (Mary) Roll, Mott, and Glenn (Susan) Roll, Glyndon, Minn.; his daughter, Shelly (Scott) McCormack, Puyallup, Wash.; his daughter-in-law, Donna Roll, Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Dawnette and Tiffani Friedt, Craig, McKayla and Kara Roll, Dalton, Alissa and Sophia Roll, Sebastian Roll and Austin McCormack; one great-grandchild, Emmi Friedt; one brother, William (Winnifred) Roll, Eldorado Springs, Mo.; seven sisters, Eva (Innozent) Zentner, Mott, Ann Kuntz, Billings, Mont., Barbara (Cornelius) Kautzman, Ballentine, Mont., Viola Dauenhauer, Billings, Delores Lee, Hettinger, Gladys Humeston, Eldorado Springs, and Sally (Marlin) Schneider, Bismarck; one sister-in-law, Betty Roll, Mott; his mother-in-law, Emmie Lutz; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; his parents, Mike and Rosa Roll; his father-in-law, Mike Lutz; and four brothers, John, Paul, Jerome and Marty Roll.
