He entered service, May 27, 1942, from Amherst, MA. He was commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant, Cavalry ( date unknown ), and assigned to the 101st Cavalry Regiment.

In December of 1943 the regiment was reorganized into the 101st & 116th Reconnaissance Squadrons, 101st Cavalry Group. He was assigned to the 101st Reconnaissance Squadron.

The Group shipped out for England, October 31, 1944, from New York Harbor and docking at Liverpool, England, November 15, 1944. After additional combat training at Camp Anty, Furness, England, the Group crossed the Channel to France in early February 1945. The Group began combat operations February 8, 1945, for the next 87 days.

After the war the Squadron was alerted for movement to the Pacific Theater of Operations. With the surrender of Japan, August 15, 1945, the Squadron was saved from deploying to the Pacific.

He was awarded the Bronze Star, GO 545, HQ 7th Army, for his service.

Post World War 2, he remained in the Army Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant
Colonel.
