His family includes a special friend, Mabel Ellison of Oskaloosa; a sister in law: Barbara Barr in Arizona; nieces and nephews: Denise and Alan Rabenold, Judy and Lyle Roorda, Mike and Debra Phillips, all of Montezuma, Mark and Linnell Phillips of Tiffin, Candy Quarton and Cindy and Dennis Bastron, all in Arizona, Daws "Sandy" and Gretchen Barr in Texas, and Wendy and Brad Williams in California; and several cousins including David and Marilyn Phillips of Oskaloosa.
Besides his wife, Oren was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Glen "Skinny" James; and a sister, Margaret Weeks.
Funeral services for Oren James will be held Monday, December 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa, with graveside military rites given by members of the Oskaloosa V.F.W., D.A.V., and American Legion. Visitation will begin Sunday after 11 a.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Tioga Cemetery Association.
