Clarice Lola Sullivan, age 73, of Mediapolis, Iowa, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The daughter of Arthur and Della Iola Schmidt Burgus, she was born on June 3, 1936 in Burlington. She married Leland H. Sullivan on July 27, 1958, in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2001.
Clarice graduated from Mediapolis High School. She was a homemaker. In earlier years she had worked at a chicken farm in Kossuth and she was an assistant with Dr. Lofgren in Mediapolis.
She enjoyed gardening, cookbooks, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football and the Burlington Bees and the Blackhawks. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mediapolis.
She is survived by her sister, Arvilla and George Kelley of Mediapolis; her nephew, Sean Kelley of Mediapolis; and a great-nephew, Leland Glenn Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leland.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family will meet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The funeral ceremony for Clarice Sullivan will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis with Rev. Jerleen Schlesser officiating. Burial will follow at the Kossuth Cemetery.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Mediapolis Community Ambulance Serve.
