Samuel W Turner, 77 years old, died Sunday morning at 1 o'clock at his home on South Florence street about one-half mile south of Kirksville, MO. Death was the result of chronic nephritis and a cancer of the left kidney.
Funeral services will be held at the Davis & Wilson undertaking parlor Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. C A Finch, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial will be in the Llewellyn cemetery.
Mr. Turner was born at Albia, IA, Feb. 10, 1853, a son of James B and Lucinda Enochs Turner. He lived in Iowa until the family moved to Decatur Co, IA and thence to Illinois Bend, MO in 1904. He was married to Mary M Mock of Albia, IA on April 9, 1874, and to them were born four children, three boys and one girl, the latter dying in infancy.
His wife died about four years ago and in October, 1929, he was united in marriage to Martha Vestal, of Kirksville, by whom he is survived. His three sons are William Turner, of Kirksville, county assessor of Adair, Co: Harley E Turner, Kirksville, and Ira B Turner of the Illinois Bend, MO vicinity.
His brother, D G Turner and wife, of Albia, have been with him during the last month. A sister, Mrs May Lane, lives at Colorado Springs, CO, and a half-brother resides in Colbran, CO. There are 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.
The deceased man had been a farmer all his life and had lived in Kirksville the last two years. He has been a member of the Christian Church here for 18 years.
