Frank A. Gurney married Caroline Isabelle "Belle" Bishop, a daughter of the Rev. J. Bishop on April 19, 1877. They had three children, Claude A., Maude I. and Benjamin F.

In compliance with a written request made to her son, some time before her death, the remains of Dr. Belle Gurney, formerly of Springfield, have been cremated and the ashes will be brought to this city and buried in the grave with her daughter in Oak Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Gurney died at Long Beach, Cal., October 28. She was the widow of Frank Gurney, former editor of The Springfield Evening News. She was born in 1860.
Some time before her death, Mrs. Gurney advised her son that if she died while in California, she desired her body to be cremated and the ashes sent to this city in care of Dr. Don Deal, and have them placed in Oak Ridge cemetery. Doctor Deal received a letter yesterday from Mrs. Gurney's son in which the mother's wishes were expressed. Doctor Deal will make arrangements for the burial of the ashes on their arrival in this city.
