Laura Emily Davis first married Nicholas Flowers. Their first son, Wellington Lucas Flowers, was born on March 16, 1858.

Joseph Nicholas Flowers was killed in action at the siege of Petersburg, Va in Nov, 1864. Arthur Legree Flowers was the son of Laura Emily Davis Flowers second husband, Curtis P. Ivey. She also had a daughter by him, Mary A. Ivey. Curtis Ivey, an artilleryman in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia had been badly wounded in the war, married Laura right after the end of the war in 1865. Curtis P. Ivey was in the Palmetto Light Artillery was an integral part of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and that may explain why is daughter’s death record shows Virginia as his birth place. He was born in South Carolina about 1820. He died early in 1870 due to complications as a result of his war wounds. Wellington Lucas Flowers was the only child of Joseph Nicholas Flowers.
