DECATUR - Jeanette Elaine Smith Walsh, 51, of San Marcos, Calif., formerly of Decatur, passed away March 31, 2002, in her home after a long illness.
Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday in Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion. A private burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Jeanette was born June 7, 1950, in Decatur, the daughter of Ralph Eugene Smith and Clara Marie Macklin Smith. She attended Lincoln Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High, Eisenhower High School and graduated from Champaign Central High School. She attended Rose State College in Oklahoma. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. and Southern Illinois University before joining the Air Force, where she served for 10 years. She was a member of Overland Park United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Jeanette was an avid reader, enjoyed doing needlepoint and crafts and visiting with friends and neighbors. She married Bruce Lee Walsh on Aug.7, 1975. They resided in Benbrook, Texas, for 11 years.
Surviving are her parents; husband; son, Lee Walsh and wife Julie of Fort Meade, Md.; sister, Nancy Ashcroft and husband David of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
