Reta Virginia Hiett, 90, of 1628 Howell Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at the Village at Robinwood, Hagerstown.

Born Thursday, Dec. 11, 1919, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Elbert Conard and the late Edith Hendricks Conard.

She was a graduate of Madison University with a degree in home economics. She was employed at the South Baltimore General Hospital as a dietitian before moving to Hagerstown and being employed with the Washington County Board of Education, teaching home economics at Williamsport High School.

She was a member of Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, Maryland State Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered at the Washington County Food Bank.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Kyle Powderly officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The family would like to thank Robinwood Assisted Living and Hospice of Washington County for the care and friendship that was provided to Reta while she was a resident there.
