Mrs. Johnson was born August 23, 1895, to Andrew and Anna Anderson. On December 20, 1920, she married Irwin N. Johnston in Newark. They lived and worked on a dairy farm on the edge of Newark most of their lives. She attended Pleasant View Academy in Ottawa where she taught piano for a few years. She was a 70-year member of the Newark Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Evening Women's Club and the Church Ladies' Aid.
She is survived by one son, J. A. "Bud" of Batavia; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Finsaas of Minneapolis, Minn; a brother-in-law, Gerald Johnston of Sandwich; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years; one daughter, Lois Finsaas; and three brothers, Otto, Orville and Faye Anderson.
